Advice

Initial Consultation and Legal Advice

Usually the first step when faced with a legal issue is to talk about what your options are, how the legal process works, and what the risks and benefits might be. We understand that sometimes you need help deciding what to do about your situation.

We're happy to sit down with you to talk about your situation and answer your questions. Whether you decide you want to move forward and start a legal claim or not, having the right legal advice makes a difference.

If you would like to get some quick advice about your situation, please fill out the form below to tell us a bit about yourself and your situation. Until we formally agree to represent you, though, we are not your lawyers.

Legal advice and representation through the Reclaim Pro Bono project is provided by the lawyers at Spark Law. The University of Windsor Law School has no role in advising or representing clients, and does not have access to confidential client information.

The "adverse party" is the person who has shared or published the image without your consent. An adverse party could also include any web site or service that was involved with the sharing or publication.
We don't need a lot of details at this point, so share only what you are comfortable sharing in an online form. Helpful details include whether the image in question was a selfie (the legal arguments are different if you were the photographer or if someone else was), how the image was initially obtained by someone other than you (shared with an intimate partner, stolen from a private device, etc.) and how it has since been further shared (private messages, web site, social media, etc.).
