If you're anything like us, faced with a situation that is new and maybe more than a bit scary, you probably want to understand as much as possible just what that situation is. Maybe you don't want to talk to anyone yet. Or at all.

We've done our best here to put together some information about the legal landscape around the non-consensual sharing or publication of intimate images. Unfortunately, in a lot of respects, the legal landscape isn't particularly clear. So take this information for what it is: our attempt to answer a few frequently asked questions and summarise the law in an easy-to-understand format.

This isn't advice, though. Every situation is different, and applying the information to each unique situation takes... well, takes a lawyer most often. So please get in touch with us so that we can give you some advice. We want to help.

Frequently Asked Questions

We've put together a collection of questions you might have, and our best effort at a short answer (this is a challenge: legal stuff can be complicated). Please reach out to us directly if you have any questions that aren't answered on the website.

Articles and Information

As we've mentioned a few times on the site, the law on civil remedies for the non-consensual sharing of intimate images is in its nascent stages in Ontario. For more detailed information about the state of the law, read our blog-style information pieces.

Legislation and Cases

Want to go directly to the source? We have compiled a list of legislation and court decisions from Ontario, across Canada, and around the world which deal with this issue.

Other Resources

We know the law isn't the answer to everything. In case you're in need of other resources and supports, we've put together a list. If you have any suggestions for additions to this list, please contact us.
